In response to an assault and attempted rape of a woman, on a Sunday afternoon in a South Carolina park while she was walking her dog. Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said at a news conference, "Our form of justice is not making it." He then told everyone, "Get a concealed weapon. That'll fix it."

We are pleased that some law enforcement officers understand that law enforcement is a reactionary force. That is they can't do anything until after a crime has been committed. Wright went on to say. "I'm tired of looking at victims saying, 'There's life after this' … I'm tired of saying, 'We're sorry, we can't keep them in jail.'" We sympathize with his frustration and support him for telling the public the truth.
